Though they weren't snapped in the same shot, at the 2020 Euro final football match between Italy and England in July 2021, Cruise (seated near Kate Moss and David Beckham, among others) had a brief interaction with Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince George a few rows away.
On May 15, 2022, Cruise manned the microphone at the performance of the Platinum Jubliee Celebrations at the Windsor Horse Show, part of an ITV television special.
Four days later, on May 19, Cruise was a gracious host to William and Kate at the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick.
Cruise and Prince William, both aviation enthusiasts, reportedly chatted about their flying experiences at the event.
"We have a lot in common," Cruise said of the prince at the premiere, according to My London. "We both love England and we're both aviators, we both love flying."
Cruise and Kate had another run-in just two months later at the women's final of the 2022 Wimbledon tennis tournament in London, where he sat a few rows behind her.
Cruise played a role in the Coronation Concert, which took place in the days following King Charles' crowning ceremony. In a video cameo, Cruise gave the monarch a shoutout while in a fighter jet.
"Pilot to pilot, Your Majesty, you can be my wingman any time," Cruise said.
Cruise and Prince William reunited in February 2024 at the London Air Ambulance charity gala. The royal told the actor, "I haven’t got my Top Gun slippers on," referencing the fancy footwear he rocked at the 2022 premiere of Top Gun: Maverick.
During his speech at the event, Prince William directly addressed Cruise during the fundraising appeal for new aircraft.
"I should also take this opportunity to give a mention to my — our — fellow pilot, Tom Cruise," the royal said. "Tom, huge thanks for supporting us tonight. And Tom, if you wouldn't mind not borrowing either of the new helicopters for the next Mission Impossible, it would be appreciated. We have all seen on our screens that — how can I put it — you seem to have a different take on 'normal wear and tear' to the rest of us. It's not the kind that buffs out."
Michele Diane "Shelly" Miscavige (née Barnett; born January 18, 1961) is a member of the Church of Scientology's Sea Org who married Scientology leader David Miscavige.[1]: 303 She was last seen in public in August 2007. Since her disappearance, she has been the subject of speculation and inquiries regarding her whereabouts and wellbeing.
In 2012, attorneys who said they represented her responded by saying she was merely living a private life devoted to the Church of Scientology. In August 2013, actress Leah Remini, a former Scientologist and critic of the organization, filed a missing person report regarding Miscavige with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) which was closed within hours by the LAPD as "unfounded".

However, Brisker said that Cruise stood apart for having "a real streak of goodness" about him, while he was less flattering when it came to Miscavige.
"Tom Cruise is Scientology's number one victim," Brisker said. "I know people will disagree with me about this but it's like he's living in a distorted reality. He's fully in the matrix."
According to the article, Brisker is planning to release his book, The Big Lie: How I Made an Evil Cult Look Good, in November 2024.
Newsweek has contacted representatives of the Church of Scientology and Cruise via email for comment.
Back in September, former Scientologist Remini posted a six-year-old clip in which she discussed why she believes that Cruise remains committed to the church.
In the snippet of her 2017 interview with podcaster Joe Rogan, which was shared on TikTok, Remini dismissed rumors that Cruise hasn't left Scientology because "the church has information on him." Instead, she cited the influence the religion allegedly holds in the entertainment industry and the benefits of being a member.
"It's like nothing you can imagine," she told Rogan at the time. "The amount of power they receive from this church is like nothing in Hollywood. There is no reason for them to leave this environment."
"He has all of these people to take care of his every need?" Rogan asked, which Remini claimed at the time was the case.
"Yes and there's policy on how to talk somebody," she explained. "Like, if you said, 'Go get me a coffee and I want it this temperature,' there's no 'I can't get it.' There'd be none of that kind of talk. You don't talk back, eve

Was Meghan Markle drawn to Scientology? Her father says he warned her after seeing her outside church in LA
In July 2018, the Duchess of Sussex’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., revealed he actually had to warn his daughter about the Church of Scientology. The 74-year-old explained in a detailed interview with The Sun how he caught a young Meghan hanging about outside a Scientology church in Los Angeles, according to a report by Yahoo News.
At the time, Thomas Sr. warned his daughter she would be in "big trouble" if she ever returned to the neighborhood.
Nonetheless, there has been no indication that the future Duchess was ever considering joining the church's ranks.
In August 2018, Meghan's father spoke to The Sun once again. This time, he described the royal family as being "cult-like." “They are either like Scientologists or the Stepford family,” the retired television lighting director said in the interview.
“If they hear anybody say anything they just lock the doors. They need to speak up!” he added, presumably referencing an earlier claim he made that the royal family had been “in silence mode” since he began giving interviews to media outlets.
“They are cult-like — like Scientology — because they are secretive,” he remarked. “They close the door, pull the shades down and put their fingers in their ears so they don’t have to hear."
“Maybe they have a secret handshake too! You cannot ask a question of them — as they won’t answer,” Thomas added at the time.
Having said that, the Church of Scientology has often invited controversy for its practices and secretive methods. However, it has always denied claims that it is a cult and that it manipulates its members.
