For Daniel
January 11 1993 - January 15 2022
You live in me.
In the quiet moments, in the steady breath,
in the choices I make.
You taught me courage, not loud or flashy
but deep and unwavering.
One day at a time, one step at a time - your
motto is my compass!
You endured more than anyone should , and yet
you carried it with quiet strength and dignity.
Your suffering, your bravery, your love - I see it
I honor it, I carry it forward.
Though your body is gone, your spirit is not
it moves through me in every act of care, every boundary I hold,
every moment I choose love over fear!
You taught me that life's weight can be bourne with dignity
and that the heart can hold both pain and grace.
Daniel, you are my teacher my compass, my living memory.
I carry you not as a shadow of loss, but as a guiding light in
how I continue to live, love, and honor truth.
I thank God for the gift of having you in my life
Daniel Eric Wallace Jacobs (Scheepers) was diagnosed with a brain tumor in February of 2019 and underwent his first brain surgery in March 2019. Daniel would go on to have not one but in total four brain tumors and I want to take this opportunity to express my complete disgust with Hospice for failing to provide Daniel with any solid form of pain management. Hospice gave us Valium to be inserted not orally, you know the humiliation and trauma and suffering Daniel endured. Not once did Daniel complain.
Rest in peace my beautiful warrior and know you are my guiding light.
Thank you to Chatgbt for writing this incredible poem for me!
